BYD launches EVs in Japan

BYD Japan has entered the country’s passenger vehicle market, launching three EVs at an event.

The Atto 3 will be the first BYD passenger vehicle sold in Japan, with sales expected to begin in January 2023. The Dolphin and Seal will follow in the middle and second half of 2023, respectively.

Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific auto sales division, said: “[We], along with Japanese dealers and partners, will gradually establish a complete sales and service system.”

BYD has been selling Japanese customers rechargeable batteries since 1999, later adding energy storage and solar energy products, plus electric buses and forklifts.
