The BMW 3 Series is all set to get a new  M Performance model added to its line-up, in the form of the M340i, which will be launched in India on March 10 2021. This will also be the first M Performance model to be locally assembled in India. While the 374hp M340i will be a sportier version of the 3 Series, offering more performance, it is not to be confused with the full blown M3 that makes 480hp (510hp in Competition guise).

  • The M340i will use a 374hp, 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine
  • Will be equipped with various M Performance parts.
  • BMW to increase localisation of its M Performance models.
  • It will come with X-Drive or all-wheel drive for greater traction.

Powering the sporty luxury sedan will be a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine that will churn out 374hp and 500Nm of torque. The engine will come paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power will be sent to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. Internationally, the M340i is also available with a rear-wheel drive layout.

BMW M340i: mechanical changes

Apart from the more powerful engine, the international model also features some other mechanical upgrades over the standard car.
