Bajaj Triumph bike, 400cc engine, launch date

Motorcycles from Bajaj-Triumph’s stables have been anticipated for a long time now, and we already know how they will look and that they will be revealed on June 27 in the UK. Now, we can also report that these motorcycles will likely have a brand new, 400cc single-cylinder engine.

This engine will be developed brand new for this new platform and will have no connection with existing or future powertrains from KTM. That shouldn’t come as a surprise given that KTM engines are more about raucous performance where a high rpm rush is valued, whereas Triumph motors are more about effortless riding and strong mid-range punch.

Given the larger capacity and clear presence of liquid-cooling, these engines will be significantly more advanced and powerful than the 350s from Royal Enfield. Nevertheless, Bajaj and Triumph will surely be looking at Royal Enfield as a key rival in the Indian market. How the companies choose to price these bikes will play a big role in their success, but it’s reasonable to expect tempting pricing, especially since Bajaj has been eager to break into this space for years without much success.

The upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles will debut in two flavours initially – a modern retro roadster and a larger looking scrambler. Both bikes have been spotted on our roads in close to production trim and they will be unveiled to the world in the UK in just over a month’s time. Expect production to begin in India soon after.
