Bajaj Pulsar N150 spotted testing

Ever since the Bajaj Pulsar 250 was launched, there was talk of smaller capacity models based on the same platform following suit. Post the launch of the Pulsar N160, it seems like Bajaj is readying the new Pulsar N150, going by the spy photos that have surfaced online.

  • N150 based on the Pulsar N160 platform

  • Rides on thinner tyres

  • Gets a new, multi-reflector headlight

New Bajaj Pulsar N150: What's new?

The motorcycle in the spy photos is heavily camouflaged, but there are a few details that are clear enough to guess what the bike would look like. For starters, the headlight cowl has a completely different shape, with a new multi-reflector headlight inset. There is a small windscreen that sits above the headlight unit. Note that this headlight setup is basic, compared to the premium, LED projector light setup on the Pulsar N160. This, understandably, has been done to keep costs in check. That said, it appears that the N150 will feature the same bezel-free, analogue-digital display that's present on the N160.

The body panels, be it the shape of the fuel tank and its extensions or the side panels, as well as the split seats, appear to be similar to the ones we've seen on the N160. The tail section, with its blacked-out portion and split LED tail-light and grab rails also looks similar to the one we've seen on the N160. That being said, another test mule spotted sometime later was seen with a simpler, one-piece grab rail and a single-piece seat. There is a possibility that Bajaj may launch the N150 in two variants to make the bike accessible to a wider audience

New Bajaj Pulsar N150: Other differences

Underneath the bodywork, the Pulsar N150 should feature the same frame as the N160. However, it seems like the size of the telescopic fork on the N150 is smaller than what we see on the dual-channel ABS version of the N160. In all likelihood, the N150 may have the same telescopic fork as the single-channel ABS variant of the Pulsar N160. The monoshock, however, may be the same as on the N160.

Other visible differences to the Pulsar N160 include new alloy wheels, thinner tyres and a smaller front disc. The lower-spec variant of the N150 is expected to get a drum brake at the rear, as is clearly visible in the spy photos.

Coming to the engine, expect it to be based on the N160's unit, albeit with lower power and torque figures. Bajaj, of late, has improved the refinement levels of its engines and we can expect to see them come up with a smooth 150cc unit in the new N150.

New Bajaj Pulsar N150: expected launch time

While there is no official word yet, Bajaj may likely launch the new Pulsar N150 in a few weeks. When launched, the bike will go up against the Yamaha FZ, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda Unicorn.
