In addition to showcasing the LX SUV, Lexus also opened bookings for the new-gen RX SUV.
Lexus is participating in the Auto Expo for the first time, and has showcased the latest-gen LX SUV. The LX is essentially a more premium and stylish alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, which is also on display at the Auto Expo. The new Lexus LX is priced at Rs 2.82 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
- Lexus LX gets only a diesel engine in India
- Only available in a 5-seater guise in India
Lexus LX competes with Range Rover
The new LX gets a bold styling with a massive grille, upright stance and squared out wheel arches with large alloys. It does resemble the Land Cruiser 300 from the profile but gets slightly different rear quarter windows. At the rear, the LX gets an upright tail gate and sleek LED tail lamps connected by a light bar.
On the inside, the new LX gets twin-screen set-up on the dashboard, with the upper 12.3-inch screen functioning as the infotainment unit and the lower 7.0-inch display showing off-road data and climate control functions. Despite a twin-screen setup, the LX also offers physical buttons and dials to operate several functions.
While the LX is available in international markets in a 7-seater guise, India only gets a 5-seater layout. The rear passengers also get individual rear entertainment screens.
The new LX now comes only as a diesel model and is powered by the same 309hp, 3.3-litre engine. The LX gets 4WD as standard and also gets multi terrain modes for off-roading. In India, it takes on the likes of the Range Rover. Lexus recently confirmed that the existing batch of the LX is sold out and the new one will come sometime in 2023.
