Auto ADAS heavyweights join camera maker’s boards

Roger Nielsen is joining camera based 3D visions specialist Nodar’s board of directors while Kurt Lehmann, Klaus Kompass and Tom Pilutti will sit on the advisory board.

Nielsen is a former president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America, Lehmann a former Continental CTO, Kompass a former BMW VP of Safety and Pilutti a former technical plus research & advanced ADAS manager at Ford.

“At Daimler, I saw firsthand the positive life-saving effect automated driving systems can have. In tests, we saw a 95% reduction in rear-end collisions with the addition of L2 technology in trucks. The groundbreaking work that Nodar is doing has the potential to affect the entire industry for the better,” said Nielsen.

Nodar reckons 250m L2 , L2+, and L3 vehicles will be built worldwide between 2025 and 2030 and wants to become the dominant ADAS vision system using the 3D platform, called Hammerhead, claimed to deliver reliable, ultra-precise, real-time 3D sensing using automotive-grade cameras and compute platforms.

“Nodar is an exciting and transformative technology which will boost the performance, cost, and, therefore, the accessibility of the future automated driving vehicles,” said Lehmann.

“After spending [35 years] directly in the global auto industry it is great to be a part of game changing technology.”
