20 units of the eCanter will be with Australia Post from October

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation said 20 eCanter EV trucks would soon become part of the Australia Post fleet.

From October, the postal service will become the first Australian customer to use the light-duty truck in daily operations.

The organisation already has the largest electric fleet in the country, with over 3,000 electric delivery vehicles. The eCanters are expected to contribute to Australia Post’s target of reducing overall emissions by 15% by 2025 from the 2019 level.

The eCanters will run in major cities to support parcel deliveries. The StarTrack subsidiary, which provides express logistics for companies, will also be operating the eCanter. The trucks will be supported by the Fuso retail network.

The eCanter for Australia is built in Tramagal, Portugal, and comes with the same standard specifications as the models sold in Japan and Europe.

For city use, the vehicle has the Advanced Emergency Braking System, Lane Departure Warning System and Electronic Stability Program. The vehicle was also tested with a six-month local trial during which it was operated with a maximum load.
