Aston Barclay reveals Range Rover most desirable SUV in January

The Range Rover was the most desirable SUV to pass through Aston Barclay’s auction halls in January, according to its latest used car desirability index.

It said the new and previous model Range Rover has been in high demand all month, closely followed the Audi Q5 as dealers continued to buy SUVs to order rather than for stock.

The Mercedes EGC was in third place and the only electric car in the January table, while BMW was the dominant brand in the month with four of its SUV models making the desirability top 10.

“Larger SUVs regularly head up our monthly used desirability index, but generally they cost upwards of £30,000 which is why dealers prefer to buy them to meet customer orders rather than as part of their daily stock,” said Nick Thompson, Aston Barclay’s chief customer officer.

“However, when dealers come into the market to buy there is intense competition for the larger premium SUVs up to four years of age.”

Aston Barclay’s monthly desirability index takes into consideration three key metrics: web views prior to sale, number of physical and online sale bids, and sale price achieved as a percentage of CAP average.
