It works by adding a vAutoTrack tag to the vehicle, either on a side rear window, or the inside of the windscreen. Dealers then have fixed readers working off 4G in key locations and every time a vehicle passes through a reader, the location is updated.
Handheld readers can complete a stock check in minutes, rather than hours. A dealer simply walks the site and vAutoTrack will pick up every vehicle and produce a stock report to submit to the accounts department.
Chris Barrett, Managing Director of Visual Automotive commented: “I used to be responsible for the stock across seven different locations as well as compounds. We could waste hours trying to locate vehicles that had been moved or test driven at other sites. The other challenge we faced was locating a vehicle quickly on some of our larger sites.
“With our vAutoTrack plug-in RFID, dealers can keep track of vehicle movements live and never lose a vehicle again. For those doing stock checks, gone are the days looking for chassis or registration numbers.
“Now, dealers can simply walk around their site and vehicles will ping the reader and provide a full list. What could take hours, now takes minutes.
“Similar to technology used in retail warehouses, the RFID updates the vehicle at each stage of preparation. With more and more deliveries going online, dealers can use the technology to keep their customers up-to-date on progress.”
Used with vAutoStock vehicle preparation vehicles are prepared correctly and efficiently which leads to an improved stock turn and increased margin.
Visual Automotive will be exhibiting at Stand C23 in at the NEC in November.
