The Aura facelift is only available with a 1.2-litre engine, either in petrol or CNG spec; 1.0-litre turbo-petrol discontinued.
Hyundai has officially taken the wraps off the 2022 Aura facelift sedan. This is the first midlife update on the Aura that was introduced in January 2020, and gets revised front fascia along with new tech and safety features. Hyundai has opened bookings for the Aura for a token amount of Rs 11,000, and it will also be showcased to the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Additionally, Hyundai has also revealed a facelift for the Grand i10 Nios hatchback.

Hyundai Aura facelift: exterior design
The biggest update to the Aura facelift is to its front-end design. The compact sedan gets a more upright nose featuring a two-part grille. There’s a slim upper portion which houses the Hyundai logo, while the lower section spans almost the entire height and width of the bumper – giving it a wider look than it actually is – and features a new hexagonal pattern finished in black.
There’s also a new inverted L-shaped LED DRL housed at the edges of the bumper, although the fog lamps have been given a miss on the facelifted model. The chin on the front bumper is also a lot sharper than before.
There are, however, no changes in profile of the sedan – even the alloy wheels remain identical. There are also no major changes at the rear – the tail lamps, the chrome trim connecting them and even the bumper remain the same. What’s new is a boot lid spoiler that was previously offered as an accessory, but is now offered as standard except for the base trim. It also gets a new Starry Night colour option.
Hyundai Aura facelift: interior and features
On the inside, the cabin layout remains the same but now features new upholstery for the seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, new lighting for the footwell area. While the Aura facelift retains the 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and a wireless charger, it now gets additional tech features.
This includes new Type C charging ports, a new 3.5-inch digital display in the instrument cluster, along with four airbags as standard, ABS and EBD. Optional safety features include six airbags, ESC, hill assist control, central locking and keyless entry, automatic headlamps, ISOFIX anchorages and a day/night rear view mirror.
Hyundai Aura facelift: powertrain options
The facelifted Aura sees no changes under the hood as it will continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 83hp and 113.8Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Additionally, it also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit in the 1.2-litre petrol engine which develops 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque and is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. However, the facelifted Aura does not get the 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that was offered on the pre-facelift model, for now.
2023 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios facelift: rivals
With an expected price range of Rs 6.5 lakh-9.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted Aura will take on the likes of the Tata Tigor (Rs 6.10 lakh – 8.84 lakh) and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire (Rs 6.24 lakh-91.8 lakh) in the market.
