2022 KTM RC 390 type approved in India, official launch soon

The document confirms that the RC 390 will retain its 43.5hp output figure, and also indicates that an official launch is just around the corner.

Bajaj has filed type approval documents for the 2022 KTM RC 390, indicating that an official launch is just around the corner. The document, filed on March 10, 2022, indicates that the next-gen RC 390 has been homologated for road use in India, and it also contains certain specifications for the upcoming model.

We see that the next-gen RC 390 retains its 43.5hp power output, as expected. This matches the power figure mentioned on KTM’s India website, where the 2022 RC 390 was recently listed. There are also details about the bike’s wheelbase and dimensions.

While the document doesn’t reveal anything new in terms of specifications, it does tell us that after numerous delays, the company is finally gearing up to launch the updated version of the bike. The updated RC 125 and RC 200 were launched late last year, but the 2022 RC 390 receives a new TFT display, like its siblings in the 390 line-up.

We understand there have been supply issues with this TFT dash – an effect of the ongoing semiconductor shortage. As a result, the 390 Duke is in very limited supply at the moment, with reports that its production had been temporarily halted due to unavailability of the display. Our sources tell us that production resumed on March 21, suggesting that perhaps the company has received fresh stock, also paving the way for the launch of the updated RC 390.
