2022 Hyundai Palisade facelift: exterior design changes

Glance at the new Palisade, and the redone front-end styling is what stands out. The old grille has made way for a much larger, wider and more upright ‘Parametric’ grille design, the LED daytime running light signature has been tweaked and moved further out to the edges, the headlights have been refreshed and the front bumper has also been revised with a cleaner look.

In profile, there is little that sets the new Palisade apart from its pre-facelift counterpart, save for the new alloy wheel design. The rear too remains largely unchanged, with the re-profiled bumper and neater diffuser section being the only points of distinction. The Hyundai Venue facelift that is expected to come to India soon is likely to get a similar grille design.

There is also a new, rugged Palisade XRT variant on offer, which adds a dark finish on the new 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and front grille, and a rugged looking front and rear bumper with faux skid plates.

2022 Hyundai Palisade facelift: interiors and features

Inside, the overall layout and design is similar to the older model. However, Hyundai has made some changes like the new four-spoke steering wheel, a larger 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new AC vent design that stretches from the centre all the way to the passenger side and the updated physical media control switches. There is also new Nappa leather upholstery, USB C connectivity for all three rows, massaging driver’s seat and new four-way adjustable headrests for the second row. Hyundai also claims the seats are more ergonomic than before.

Other features from the older model like the digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, heated steering wheel, heated/cooled front seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and remote opening/closing tailgate are also present.

The Palisade also gets advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) – Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

2022 Hyundai Palisade facelift: powertrain

Under the hood, the new Palisade comes with a 295hp, 355Nm, 3.8-litre, Atkinson-cycle V6 petrol engine. This is paired to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox sending power to either two or four wheels, depending on the specification.

Hyundai India plans

The Korean carmaker was evaluating the Palisade for India back in 2020, however, there has been no official announcement regarding the same. Instead, Hyundai has a number of new models lined up for the Indian market this year including four new SUVs – the all-new Tucson and the facelifts for the Kona EV, Creta and the Venue. The all-electric Ioniq 5, which has just won the 2022 World Car of the Year award, is also headed to India.
