2022 Maruti Ertiga: what will be new?
As seen in the latest teaser image, and the spyshots before, the Ertiga will feature certain design tweaks like reworked bumper, and a new grille that is similar to the new Baleno. According to the teaser video, the MPV will carry forward the existing beige theme for the interiors, and updates to the cabin are expected to be minimum. The biggest change is likely to be the new 7-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with ‘Suzuki Connect’ connected car tech.
The 2022 Ertiga will have more substantial changes under the hood. Maruti has confirmed that the new Ertiga will be equipped with a new K-series 1.5-litre Dual VVT engine, corroborating our previous report. Maruti Suzuki may carry forward the Smart Hybrid technology with the facelift. The MPV will also ditch the outdated optional 4-speed automatic gearbox in favour of a new 6-speed unit that will feature paddle-shifters. The 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to be carried over.
2022 Maruti Ertiga: rivals
Once launched, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will face competition with the likes of the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and even face some rivalry from the updated version of its plusher sibling – the XL6.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars, SUVs: 2022 and beyond
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch six new models by mid-2022. These include the new Ertiga and updated XL6 along with the Baleno CNG, new Vitara Brezza, and DualJet-equipped Ignis and S-Presso. The carmaker is also working on an all-new Creta-rivalling midsize SUV that is being co-developed with Toyota and is expected to launch later this year. The much-awaited Jimny is expected to come to Maruti Suzuki showrooms sometime next year.\
