2021 Moto Guzzi V7 revealed with larger, more powerful engine

The Moto Guzzi V7 has been updated for 2021, and it sports some rather significant changes, including some to the powerplant.

  • Unlike its predecessor, the V7 III, the 2021 update is called the V7

  • Gets 850cc engine from V85 TT and V9

  • Sports some cosmetic and ergonomic changes

2021 Moto Guzzi V7 name

The first big change is that the Italian manufacturer has stripped the Roman numerals from the bike’s name – the V7 III will now be referred to as just the V7.

Then, there’s the engine. The 744cc transverse-twin engine from the older model has been replaced with the 850cc unit seen on the V85 TT and V9. Moto Guzzi claims the new engine delivers 25 percent more peak power, now producing 65hp at 6,800rpm and 73.2Nm at 5,000rpm. In comparison, the engine on the outgoing V7 III produces 13hp and 10Nm less. The manufacturer also claims that more than 80 percent of torque is available from as low as 3,000rpm.

Moto Guzzi has reinforced the frame around the headstock and added longer-travel Kayaba shock absorbers. There are changes to the ergonomics as well including a new seat and updated footpeg supports. A wider 150/70 section tyre – up from the 130/80 section – should also result in better stability. Hardware, like the single-disc front brake and shaft drive remain the same, but there are cosmetic changes in the form of new side panels and a shorter rear mudguard.

2021 Moto Guzzi V7 price and variants

The company has not revealed information on availability and price, yet. But we do know that the V7 will be available in two versions for 2021 – the V7 Stone and V7 Special. The V7 Stone has a single-pod LCD instrument cluster, LED lighting, cast aluminum wheels, and a DRL-equipped headlight. The V7 Special, meanwhile, has dual analog dials, spoked wheels, and a classic round headlight.
