2021 Jeep Compass facelift revealed

The Jeep Compass facelift has been unveiled in India, ahead of its launch next month. The SUV gets refreshed styling, a revamped interior and more features, in comparison to the outgoing model.

Jeep Compass facelift interior and exterior

In terms of exterior styling, the Jeep Compass facelift features revised headlights with integrated LED DRLs, an updated seven-slat grille with honeycomb-like inserts, a new front bumper with a larger air dam and new fog light housings. The SUV also get new alloy wheels. However, there are no major updates to the side and rear of the SUV.

The Compass facelift gets a completely revamped interior, with a new floating 10.1-inch touchscreen taking centre stage, below which are the new, slim AC vents and HVAC controls. The facelift also gets double-stitched brown leather inserts on the dashboard and brushed aluminium-like trim. Also, part of the package is a new three-spoke steering wheel and a large, full-digital instrument cluster. Top-spec Compass’ will feature dual-tone leather upholstery for the seats, while the lower variants get all-black upholstery.

The top-spec Limited Plus variant is equipped with a 10.1-touchscreen that gets FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system, integrated Amazon Alexa support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The infotainment system can also receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. The Compass facelift also features LED headlights, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, powered tailgate, electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Jeep Compass facelift safety features

Safety features on the Compass Limited Plus include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, ESC, hill-start assist, hill-descent control auto headlamps and wipers and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Jeep Compass facelift engine details

The Jeep Compass facelift is available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 173hp and 350Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 163hp and 250Nm of torque, same as the outgoing model. Both engines come with a six-speed manual as standard, with the Compass petrol getting the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and the diesel getting a nine-speed torque converter auto option. The Compass facelift diesel will also be available with a four-wheel drive system with surface-specific drive modes. 

A powered tailgate is also part of the package.

Jeep Compass facelift rivals

The Jeep Compass facelift rivals the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Skoda Karoq. Just like the pre-facelift model, the Compass facelift will also get the off-road focused Trailhawk variant at a later stage.

Jeep’s India plans

Recently, the carmaker announced that it has committed an investment of over $250 million (about Rs 1,827 crore) towards the production of the four new SUVs in the next two years.

Jeep is developing a new seven-seat SUV, that will share its platform and powertrain with the Compass, but will be positioned to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The seven-seat Jeep SUV is slated to launch sometime in 2022.

Apart from the seven-seater, Jeep has also announced plans to locally assemble the Wrangler and the next-gen Grand Cherokee. The manufacturer is working on a sub-4m compact SUV for India.
