Leading British smart energy and charging business, Indra, has revealed its new, industry-leading Smart LUX™ EV (electric vehicle) home charger. Packed with state-of-the-art features designed to make EV charging even more convenient, intuitive and energy efficient.
The slimmest charger on the market
A contemporary and compact design gives the Smart LUX™ a sleek, elegant look. With a profile of just 78mm, it is the slimmest tethered charger on the market. The Smart LUX™ is available in four elegant colours (Symphony Black, Indra White, Elgar Grey and Malvern Stone).
Smart LUX™ is inspired by the Latin word for light, and this is most clearly expressed in the eye-catching Turbine Lights. This feature uses an array of LEDs set around the front of the unit that illuminate sequentially to create a scrolling light signature whenever an EV is plugged-in or disconnected. This distinctive feature creates a welcoming visual ‘handshake’ much like many modern cars when they are unlocked, allowing users to quickly establish the charger’s status.
Unrivalled durability
Thanks to Indra’s world-leading expertise, the Smart LUX™ delivers outstanding durability and quality, and is the only EV charger with an IP67 weather rating. This ensures that it can withstand the toughest conditions, with complete protection against both water and dust ingress. The Smart LUX™ also features a class-leading IK10 impact rating, meaning it’s easily tough enough to easily withstand the bumps and knocks. All this allows for the Smart LUX™ to have an exceptional five-year warranty.
Even smarter app
The Indra App offers total flexibility by allowing users to access Agile, Fixed, Intelligent, Time-of-use or Type-of-use tariffs throughout the charger’s life. With an ability to work with any energy supplier, the Smart LUX™ can deliver exceptional savings for users. Drivers could save up to £830 a year more than most other smart chargers, when charging a mid-sized EV that covers 16,000 miles annually.
The app not only highlights the best time to charge for the lowest costs and greenest energy, drivers can choose to charge by mileage, energy or cost.
Speed, safety and solar
With an ability to charge at 7.4kWh, the Smart LUX is one of the fastest domestic smart chargers on the market. This is underlined by the brand’s advanced PESTs (Protective Earth, Simultaneous Touch Protection) technology, which both maximises the time the charger is active and increases safety.
Adding to the considerable appeal of the Smart LUX™ is the ability to access energy produced by domestic solar panels through its solar matching facility. This occurs when these units are producing more energy than your house is consuming, at which point the Smart LUX™ can use this excess to help charge the battery in your EV. This process happens automatically, while the Indra App allows you to monitor the solar output so you can quickly and easily see how and when it’s working, and how much you’re saving.
