Bike taxi service, Rapido, has expanded operations to provide its services in Maharashtra.

Rapido – India’s largest bike taxi operator, has begun operation in Maharashtra, starting with Mumbai. The ride sharing service began in 2015 and is now present in over 100 cities with a claimed 15 lakh rider partners. The company is also looking to onboard another 2 lakh rider partners over the next 2 years.
For Mumbai, Rapido fares will be as low as Rs 6/km and as an introductory offer the company is offering up to 50 percent off on the first ride.
On the launch of Rapido bike taxi services in Mumbai, Mr. Aravind Sanka, Co-Founder, Rapido, said, “The pandemic gave us an opportunity. It left almost 8 million daily commuters of Mumbai looking for alternate modes of travel. As the city builds back from COVID 19, there is a demanding need for an accessible, affordable, and safe everyday commute option.”
The company recently announced a list of safety measures it was following. This includes wearing a mask, sanitising the two-wheeler at regular intervals. The Captains will also have to use the Arogya Setu app when they are on duty. In addition to this, Rapido has also updated its app to help Captains steer clear of Red zones or containment zones on their route. Passengers are also advised to wear a mask at all times and carry a hand sanitiser with them.
