Mahindra XUV700, XUV.e8 interior design, XUV 7XO features, XUV700 EV, launch details

XUV.e8 will also have a new two-spoke steering wheel, likely with an illuminated logo.

The Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the first born-electric SUV based on the brand’s INGLO platform when it goes on sale by late-2024. Pre-production prototypes have previewed an interior that has some commonality with the XUV700, and new design patents that have surfaced online now confirm that the XUV.e8 will come with a three-screen setup and a new two-spoke steering wheel.

  1. XUV.e8 is due for a launch in December 2024
  2. Will have a battery pack of about 80kWh
  3. Carries over XUV700 silhouette, but based on born-EV platform

Mahindra XUV.e8 interior patents

The design patent reveals that there will be three individual screens housed in a single casing spanning the entire width of the dashboard. In essence, it appears like an extension of the XUV700’s dual-screen setup with an additional passenger screen, and is flanked by the AC vents on either side. All three screens are expected to run Mahindra’s Adrenox software.

Mahindra has also patented a new two-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel that appears to have a glass-like finish for the boss and will also likely have an illuminated logo, much like we have seen on the newer Tata SUVs; it also sports four toggle switches. Elsewhere, the XUV.e8 will carry over some switchgear from the XUV700 like the HVAC controls and the switchgear on the centre console. This interior layout is also expected to be shared with the XUV.e9 which will be a coupe-SUV derivative of the XUV.e8.

Mahindra XUV.e8: what else do we know?

The XUV.e8 will be conceptually quite similar to the XUV700 with a similar profile and three rows of seats. It measures 4,740mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,760mm in height, and will have a wheelbase of 2,762mm, making it 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase will be longer by just 7mm.

Mahindra has previously confirmed that the XUV.e8 will come with an all-wheel drive system and the battery pack will range up to 80kWh. Power outputs will range between 230hp to upwards of 350hp.

The production-spec XUV.e8 is expected to debut in the coming months before it goes on sale by the year end. Upon launch, it will see competition from the Harrier EV that’s due sometime in early 2025.
