Now gets 334cc engine found in other Jawa-Yezdi models and a number of chassis revisions.
The Jawa lineup has expanded with the launch of the new Jawa 350 at Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This bike replaces the ‘classic’ Jawa in the company’s lineup and has a number of changes over the earlier model.
- New 334cc engine makes less peak hp than before
- Looks very similiar to the earlier model
- Priced lower than Royal Enfield Classic 350
The biggest change on the Jawa 350 is the new liquid-cooled, 334cc, single-cylinder engine that is rated for 22.5hp at 7,000rpm and 28.1Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. While peak torque has gone up by 1Nm and is delivered earlier in the rev band, power has reduced by a significant 4.8hp compared to the earlier 293cc engine. A 6-speed ‘box is on offer along with a slip and assist clutch.
At 194kg, the Jawa 350 weighs just 1kg less than the Royal Enfield Classic 350, its chief competition, with its 13.5 litre fuel tank fully brimmed. Seat height stands at a manageable 802mm and the new Jawa 350 gets 178mm of ground clearance.
The new 334cc mill is nestled inside a true-to-form double cradle frame suspended by a 35mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, and dual-channel ABS is standard. The Jawa 350 gets spoked rims with tubed tyres with sizes of 100/90-18 (front) and 130/70-18 (rear).
At its Rs 2.15 lakh asking price, the Jawa 350 is positioned a little below the top-spec Royal Enfield Classic 350 (Rs 2.25 lakh). It is available in three colours – the classic Jawa maroon, black and a new Mystique Orange shade.
