Concept gets an EV powertrain; looks production ready.

Honda has showcased the new Prelude concept at the ongoing Japan Mobility show – also called the Tokyo Motor show. The new Prelude concept revealed today continues as a two-door coupe, staying true to the original model that was revealed first in 1978 and discontinued in 2001 after many generations.

  1. Prelude concept is a production-intent vehicle from Honda
  2. Comes with an EV powertrain
  3. Will continue to be a sporty, two-door coupe

Honda says that the new Prelude will be an EV and a future sporty model. The brand further adds that it is a developmental concept that will be updated in the future before it goes into series production. Apart from conforming that it will be an EV, Honda has not shared any powertrain details for the Prelude concept.

The Prelude will be the second moniker to be resurrected by Honda in recent times, with the first one being the popular Integra.

The car on display looks quite production ready with a working headlamp setup; the front gets styling cues from the latest Civic. It has Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels that look more factory than a concept. The wing-mirrors are proper units too. What Honda has not revealed yet is the car’s interior, which is why all the windows are tinted.

Honda has said that it will reveal more details about the Prelude in due course, including its powertrain and production plans.
