Aston Martin EV to come by 2026; Lucid to supply powertrain

First Aston Martin EV to arrive by 2026; will be an all-new product on a new platform.

Aston Martin’s future EV line-up will be powered by batteries supplied from US-based EV startup, Lucid, that also makes the popular Lucid Air EV sedan. Lucid’s components will form the basis of Aston’s new battery-electric car platform, set to underpin a range of models including an electrified hypercar, sports car, GT and SUV.

  • Future Aston Martin EV line-up to have multiple bodystyles
  • All models will be powered by Lucid-supplied EV components
  • More details to be revealed on Jun 27, 2023.

Lucid only produces the Lucid Air EV sedan at the moment that comes with single-, dual- and tri-motor powertrains, of which the most powerful outputs more than 1200hp. It says its current-generation motors are capable of producing up to 670hp while weighing slightly less than 74kg apiece. Aston Martin also confirmed it will continue to have access to Mercedes-Benz technologies including powertrains (both electric and internal combustion) and electrical architectures.  First Aston Martin EV will arrive by 2026. This will be a “new product” on a “new platform”, chief creative officer Marek Reichman said earlier this month.

Aston Martin will start deliveries of its first plug-in hybrid model – the Valhalla supercar – next year, and by 2026 each of its model lines will offer an electrified powertrain.
