MG Gloster price, Blackstorm edition, features, seating, and performance.

The standard Gloster now also gets an eight seat variant.

MG Motors has launched a new edition of their premium SUV the Gloster. Christened the ‘Blackstorm Edition’ at Rs 40.3 lakh. The SUV features a black theme across the exterior and interior of the car however, it remains mechanically unchanged.

MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition: Exterior 

The dimensions of the Gloster remain unchanged with a length of 4985mm, width of 1926mm and height of 1867mm. However, the exterior gets a new look for this edition. MG has opted for the popular all-black look that has worked well for other manufacturers like Tata Motor’s ‘Dark Edition’, Maruti Suzuki’s ‘Black Edition’ and Volkswagen’s ‘Deep Black Pearl’ to name a few. The Gloster Blackstorm comes in 2 paint options, Metal Black and Metal Ash along with black elements for the roof rails, taillamp and headlamp housing, the trim surrounding the window, the foglamp housing and even the alloy wheels get the Blackstorm treatment to complete the overall look. Apart from getting a black treatment, the exterior also features the use of red accents. On the headlamps, brake callipers, front and rear bumpers and even on the wing mirrors. 

MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition: Interior and features

On the inside, the Black and red treatment continues with an all-black interior upholstery and red accents on the steering and dashboard. The Gloster Blackstorm edition comes with all the bells and whistles that are offered on the regular Gloster. These include a driver’s seat that is 12-way adjustable while the passenger’s seat is 8-way adjustable, a dual panoramic sunroof, and a host of safety features including Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that are present on other models of the Gloster as well such as lane change assist and adaptive cruise control. 

MG has stated that the Gloster Blackstorm will be available in 6 and 7-seater options however it looks like they have stopped offering the 6-seater variant on the regular Gloster. The 6-seater layout features 6 captain seats while the 7-row features a bench for the third row. MG has also revealed that the regular Gloster will get an 8-seater variant, which can be expected to have a bench in the middle and last row. 

MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition: Engine and performance

The MG Gloster Blackstorm edition shares the same powertrain with no bump in performance. The 2WD version gets the  163hp, 2.0-litre, single turbo-diesel engine while the 4WD variant gets the  218hp, 2.0-litre twin turbo-diesel engine. Both of these engines are mated to an 8-speed gearbox but the 4WD gets a drive train equipped with a BorgWarner transfer case with a shift-on-fly-system.  

MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition: Engine and performance

The price of the MG Gloster Blackstorm edition starts at Rs 40.3 lakh for the 6-seater and 7-seater 2WD variants while the price of the 6 or 7-seater 4WD will set you back Rs 43.08 lakh. The prices are higher than the top-spec 7 or 8-seater Savvy variant that retails for Rs 41.77 lakh.
