We bring you fresh insights on the upcoming new-gen Renault Duster that will come to India in 2025.
Renault and its sister brand Dacia will be introducing the all-new third-gen Duster SUV globally sometime in 2024. The new-gen Duster, which will be launched in India too, will be reimagined as an activity-focused proposition, to strengthen its competitive edge over rival SUVs.
Renault Duster design insights
While Dacia is yet to officially preview the third-generation Duster, sources suggest it will embody the brand’s long standing ‘less is more’ design ethos, with the design team working to remove unnecessary bits and focus on things that are really important to the SUV. Recently surfaced spy shots preview the next-gen Duster as a chunkier, rugged proposition than the smoother second-gen SUV it replaces.
The all-new Duster will have more a box-shaped design, similar to its Renault Austral sibling, but with a flatter front end and longer overhangs. Dacia’s new sleeker facia, which was rolled out across the range as part of mini facelifts last year also makes an appearance.
Sources tell our sister publication Autocar UK that the new Duster will get a spacious interior and a modular roof storage system that could accommodate a tent for overnight stays. Renault is aiming to ensure that the Duster remains true to its affordable and capable billing as it expands and electrifies its product line-up under the ‘Renaulution’ transformation strategy of its parent Renault Group.
The next-gen Duster’s off-road ability will be a priority as the current-gen Duster 4×4 (not sold in India) is one of the most affordable four-wheel-drive SUVs on sale internationally. The new Duster will sit on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform that already sees duty in many Renault, Nissan and Dacia models.
Renault, Dacia Bigster debut by 2025
The ruggedly styled C-segment Dacia Bigster SUV, which will be a larger, three row iteration of the next-gen Duster is set to be unveiled by 2025. It, too, will use the CMF-B platform in its combustion-engined and hybrid forms, with potential for an electric variant using the EV powertrain-capable version of those underpinnings.
Next-gen Duster India launch plans
We are told that Renault will bring the all-new Duster in India by 2025. Once launched in our market, the third-generation Duster’s 5-seat version will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The 7-seat version of the Duster is expected to rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Carens and MG Hector Plus.
