The tuned Apache RR 310 set a new drag racing record for the fastest time in the Indian Open Unrestricted Class (Up to 390cc).

TVS came all guns blazing to The Valley Run 2022 with a special drag-tuned Apache RR 310. Competing in the Indian Open Unrestricted Class (up to 390cc), the bike completed the quarter mile sprint in 11.523 secs – setting a new record for the fastest time in the class. We take a look at what modifications made this possible.

  • Jagan Kumar sets new record with 11.523 secs time
  • Reworked engine almost doubles power output of road bike
  • Weighs 37 percent less

Drag-tuned TVS Apache RR 310 modifications

To start with, TVS heavily reworked the Apache RR 310’s 312.2cc engine. It’s now equipped with an electronically controlled turbocharger, along with titanium connecting rod, titanium valves and lighter forged pistons. TVS claims the reworked engine generates almost twice the power output of the street version bike.

TVS has also added a programmable and closed-loop electronic system with quickshift and launch control. To bring down the weight, a number of carbon fibre elements have been added, including the wheels and sub-frame. With all these modifications, the drag racing-prepped bike is said to weigh 37 percent less than its road-going counterpart.

The ride height has been reduced as well – something that TVS says has helped lower the centre of gravity to have a stable and minimum weight transfer effect under maximum acceleration. An extended swingarm, and the resulting increased wheelbase, have helped move the centre of gravity forward to prevent wheelies on acceleration.

Setting a new record at The Valley Run 2022

This year’s edition of The Valley Run saw 220 motorcycle entries across the different classes. TVS locked out the top two positions in the Indian Open Unrestricted Class (up to 390cc) class with the tuned Apache RR 310.

Ten-time Indian National Motorcycle Racing champion Jagan Kumar set the fastest time of 11.523 seconds. That’s 0.428 seconds faster than the previous record of 11.951 secs set by a Yamaha RD350. KY Ahamed set the second fastest time of 11.996 seconds.
