Jeep Compass: price hike
As you can see in the table above, the higher-spec Limited, Anniversary Edition, Model S and Trailhawk variants see a price hike of about Rs 40,000 – Rs 45,000. Meanwhile, the lower-spec Longitude and Night Eagle variants see a price hike in the region of Rs 15,000 – Rs 25,000. However, it’s the base Sport petrol-manual that sees the maximum hike of Rs 1.80 lakh, while the prices for the base Sport diesel-manual remain unchanged.
What’s more interesting to note is that, at the beginning of the year, the Compass was priced at Rs 18.04 lakh for the base petrol-manual variant while the top-spec diesel Trailhawk variant was priced at Rs 30.72 lakh. Therefore, in just a little over ten months, prices for the base petrol variant have shot up by a massive Rs 3.05 lakh while the Trailhawk is dearer by Rs 1.95 lakh.
Jeep Compass: powertrain and rivals
Powertrain options for the Compass include a 163hp, 250Nm, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that is paired either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There’s also a 170hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Its only the diesel-AT powertrain that’s offered with the 4×4 system on the higher-spec trims.
The Compass, with its wide price bracket, rivals a range of SUVs like the Tata Harrier and MG Hector at the bottom end and the new Hyundai Tucson and Citroen C5 at the top end.
Jeep is also gearing up to launch the new Grand Cherokee in India on November 17. It will be Jeep’s new flagship model for our country, and for the first time, will also be locally assembled here. Click here for more details.
