The Taiwanese electric scooter manufacturer and battery swapping specialist has partnered with Hero MotoCorp to co-develop vehicles and swapping infrastructure.
Taiwanese electric scooter manufacturer Gogoro is all set to enter the Indian two-wheeler market, and it will be holding a press conference on November 3 to announce its plans for India. This news comes as no surprise, and it was merely a matter of when and not if, since Gogoro has already partnered with Hero MotoCorp to co-develop vehicles and swapping infrastructure.
While there are no details yet about what Gogoro’s approach might be, the company offers a range of low- and high-speed electric scooters in overseas markets, and its USP is a widespread battery swapping network, with most of its models featuring removable battery packs. This is a model that has seen immense success in Gogoro’s home market of Taiwan, and the company will be hoping to replicate this in India.
The company’s literature also mentions an intent to “decarbonize the last-mile sector”, suggesting that Gogoro could also be looking at launching B2B products intended for last-mile delivery applications. In addition to this, Gogoro is also expected to offer B2C products for private buyers.
