Ather fast-charging network spread across 56 cities in India

Ather has more than 500 fast-charging stations operational in India, currently.

Ather Energy has steadily been ramping up its fast-charging ‘Grid’ network and has just opened its 580th fast-charging station. Ather says it has plans to increase that number to 1400 by the end of FY23 and it claims its network has been strategically installed with 60 percent of all recent fast-chargers being set up in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

Ather fast-charging network: details

Currently, Ather Energy has its 580-strong fast-charging ‘Grid’ scattered across 56 cities currently in the nation, with 60 percent of all recent setups happening in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Ather claims it has plans to open a further 820 charging points which would take the total number up to 1,400 by the end of FY23. Plugging in Ather e-scooters to the fast-charging station allows them to charge at the rate of 1.5km/min. Currently, Ather’s Grid can be used by compatible electric two-wheelers as well as four-wheelers, till the end of this year, free of charge.

Most recently, Hero MotoCorp’s maiden electric two-wheeler offering, the Vida V1 e-scooter, has tapped into this, using the same open-sourced connector design as the Ather. This means that Vida V1 owners can effectively plug in their scooters into Ather’s fast-charging grid, since it has fast-charging capability at the rate of 1.2km/min. Ola Electric had announced its plans for its ‘Hypercharger’ fast-charging network last year, but since then there hasn’t been any update regarding the same.
