Brindley Motor Group has been given a green light to redevelop its existing Wolverhampton Kia dealership to meet the Korean carmaker’s latest corporate identity (CI) standards.
Wolverhampton Council’s planning committee gave the go-ahead to plans to demolish the dealership, located on the A449 Penn Road, and replace it with a “modern, single-storey replacement”.
A statement submitted alongside the application by architects Design to Build said: “The premises is located at the junction with Ablow Street and currently consists of a car showroom, parts store and workshop on the ground floor, but also houses redundant second floor offices above the main showroom.
“The company wants to demolish the existing showroom and offices and build a modern single-storey replacement to comply with the current Kia franchise standards for car showrooms – thereby allowing the continuation of the Kia franchise to operate from the site.”
One of the UK’s stand-out growth brands, Kia is targeting a record 100,000 new car registrations in 2022.
In a recent manufacturer profile feature, the brand’s UK president and chief executive Paul Philpott told AM that now was the right time to introduce a redesign of its car retail network.
Kia’s franchised retailers delivered record profitability in 2021, delivering an average 2.7% return on sales.
AM paid a visit to Kia’s newly upgraded Bolton dealership earlier this year to get a taste of the new CI.
Brindley Motor Group currently represents Kia in Wolverhampton and Tipton. Its other franchised brands include Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Maxus, MG, Nissan and Volvo.
