The new Brezza boasts of the same length as its predecessor and will get 10 variants.

Maruti Suzuki is closing the month of June with the launch of its new Brezza compact SUV on Thursday. Just a day before its launch, we’ve got our hands on the dimensions and variants of the SUV. While based on the same Global-C platform as before, the Brezza will now feature an refreshed exterior and interior design, and a new powertrain.

  • New Brezza sees a marginal increase in height
  • Will come in 7 manual and 3 automatic variants
  • Launch on June 30

The Brezza will compete in a congested SUV segment with rivals like the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the recently launched Hyundai Venue facelift. We see how it compares with its rivals in terms of dimensions and also tell you more about the variants that will be on offer.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza measures 3,995mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,685mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,500mm. It is largely similar to the outgoing model except for the height, which is 45mm more than before.

It is interesting to note that the length of the new Brezza is the same as before. While the wheelbase typically remains the same if the platform isn’t changed, the length of the car normally varies due to reshaped bumpers. Even the 2022 Baleno, which, like the Brezza, is also based on the same platform with major cosmetic updates, is 10mm shorter than the outgoing model.

Compared to its rivals, the Brezza is only marginally longer than the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite. It’s wider than the Renault-Nissan duo but narrower than the Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon. The Brezza’s 2,500mm wheelbase is identical to the other compact SUVs but 100mm shorter than the XUV300 and only marginally more than the Tata Nexon.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza: variant details

There will be a total of 10 variants of the new Brezza. There will be seven manual variants  – LXi, LXi(O), VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, ZXi (O) and ZXI+ – and three automatic – VXi, ZXi and ZXi+.

The Brezza comes with the 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The old 4-speed automatic will be replaced with a 6-speed unit that also does duty in the recently facelifted XL6 and Ertiga MPVs. The CNG version of the Brezza is expected to be introduced at a later date.

In terms of equipment, the latest teasers have confirmed that Maruti will be offering goodies like heads-up display and an electric sunroof – the latter being the first for a Maruti. Additionally, the new SUV will also get a 9.0-inch touchscreen system, wireless phone connectivity, 360-degree camera, among other features. In terms of safety, the Brezza will get ESC as standard and six airbags on higher variants.
