Following Volvo Cars’ recent announcement, Geely’s Polestar said the latest OTA upgrade includes Android R for the Android Automotive OS infotainment system.
The P2.0 software update is the latest in the ongoing series of OTA software releases downloaded and installed remotely.
Ten major OTA releases totalling 100 improvements have been issued since launching remote updates for the Polestar 2, an average of one every seven weeks.
Recent updates include drivetrain optimisations, the ability to schedule preferred charging times, digital key improvements, an eco climate mode to improve real world range, and battery optimisation with preconditioning.
Ninety percent of owners are installing updates.
“Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, said: “We’re very encouraged by the positive response as seen from the exponential growth in the number of OTA installations, and will continue to deliver ongoing enhancements.”
Not all software upgrades are free. Owners of long range, dual motor cars were offered an OTA for purchase in some markets from November 2021. Pay up and output from the dual motor powertrain increases to 350 kW and 680 Nm, the 0-100 km/h sprint time is reduced to 4.4 seconds, and overall responsiveness is sharpened, the automaker said.
The Journey Log app launched in February 2022 allows drivers to export journey logs to claim travel expenses at work. The app is currently available in the UK, US, Canada, Sweden and Australia and will continue to be rolled out incrementally in all markets where the Google Play Store is available.
