Audi e-tron: charging options in India

For 2021, Audi is offering all customers who buy the e-tron a complimentary wall box AC charger, in addition to the 11kW charger that comes standard with the car.

Key Audi dealerships in India will also be equipped with a 50kW fast charger in a phased manner and early bird customers can avail complimentary charging through 2021 at any Audi dealership that is equipped with the facility. Furthermore, customers of other brands of electric cars can also use the charging facilities at Audi dealerships but at a cost.

Additionally, e-tron buyers can locate all compatible charging stations on the ‘Chargers near me’ section of the ‘myAudi Connect’ app and the company will also open access to this section on the app and the Audi India website to all electric car users in India.

Audi e-tron: ownership plans for the Indian market

Audi is also offering some curated ownership packages with the e-tron for customers. On offer are service plans ranging from 2 years to 5 years. There’s a comprehensive service plan available for either 4 years or 5 years, depending on the customer’s choice. The comprehensive service plan covers the costs of service and the periodic maintenance of the brakes and suspension, along with an extended warranty.

Audi is offering the e-tron with a standard warranty of 2 years and a High Voltage Battery warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000km, whichever is earlier. Owners can also opt for an extended warranty of 2+2 years or 2+3 years.

The company is also offering a buyback, which is said to be best-in-class, where customers are being assured of a lucrative buyback price up to 3 years from the date of purchase, when they decide to upgrade or sell their e-tron.

In addition, Audi is offering complimentary 5 year Road Side Assistance to e-tron customers.

Audi e-tron: powertrain details

Both versions of the e-tron use two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear. The entry-level e-tron 50 puts out 313hp and 540Nm of torque, which is enough to complete the 0-100kph dash in a claimed 6.8sec. The 50 draws power from a 71kW battery and has a range of 264-379 km (WLTP combined).

The higher-spec e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 produce 408hp and 664Nm of torque and do 0-100kph in a claimed 5.7sec. Both variants draw power from a larger 95kW battery and have a range of 359-484 km (WLTP combined). Power is channelled to all four wheels via the e-quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system. Both versions of the e-tron are capable of AC charging up to 11kW, with the e-tron 50 capable of DC charging up to 120kW and the e-tron 55 capable up to 150 kW.

Audi e-tron: rivals in India and expected price

Once launched, the Audi e-tron will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace in India. As the electric SUV will be brought down as a CBU, expect it to be expensive. Audi is expected to price the e-tron over the Rs 1 crore mark (ex-showroom, India), with the Sportback version being slightly more expensive.
