Tata Altroz Dark Edition price, exterior and interior close look

Earlier last week, Tata Motors launched Dark Edition versions of several models, including the Tata Altroz. Prices for the Tata Altroz Dark Edition start from Rs 8.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is solely available in the fully-loaded petrol XZ+ variants and costs about Rs 30,000 more than the standard petrol Altroz XZ+. Here’s a quick look at the interior and exterior of the Altroz Dark Edition in detail.

  • Tata Altroz Dark Edition is available with 1.2-litre NA and turbo-petrol engines
  • Equipment list is identical to that of standard XZ+ variants
  • Tata Altroz Dark Edition is not available with the diesel engine option

Tata Altroz Dark Edition: all that’s gone black

On the outside, the Altroz Dark Edition comes painted in what Tata Motors calls the Cosmo Dark paint finish and it looks really stealthy in this shade. Even the 16-inch alloy wheels and the ‘Altroz’ lettering on the tail gate have been blacked-out. Incidentally, the gloss black trim below the window line has lost its contrasting effect on the Altroz Dark Edition. Nevertheless, the all-black exterior looks very eye catching indeed.

Tata Altroz Dark Edition: dashes of chrome add contrast

To spice up the design a little further, Tata has left some of the chrome garnishes from the standard Altroz intact in this Dark Edition model. This includes a prominent chrome trim around the grille and headlamps and additional chrome embellishments on the wing mirrors. There’s also a chrome ‘#Dark’ badge on the front fenders. These chrome highlights break the visual mass of the Altroz Dark Edition and provide some much needed contrast.

Tata AltrozDark Edition Interior: upholstery and dashboard

While the interior of the standard Altroz is finished in a mix of colours and textures, the Dark Edition version naturally gets an all-black treatment. The seats are now all-black with ‘Dark’ inscribed on the headrests. The entire lower portion of the cabin (finished in light grey in the standard Altroz) has been blacked out as well. The glossy grey trim on the dashboard has been replaced with a new gloss black trim. Even the satin-finished trims on the steering wheel and around the center console have been blacked-out.

Tata Altroz Dark Edition: ambient lightning lending a premium look

What we really like about the interior of the Altroz Dark Edition is the ambient lighting around the dashboard that’s much more prominent here, thanks to the all-black treatment. The blue ambient lightning creates a beautiful, floating effect over the gloss black dashboard panel, giving it an air of premiumness. Just like the chrome garnishes on the outside, the ambient lightning also adds some much needed contrast to the all-black interior.

Tata Altroz Dark Edition: Powertrain Options and Price

The Altroz dark Edition is available with either the 86hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or the more powerful 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine – both with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Interestingly, the Dark Edition treatment is not available with the 1.5-liter diesel engine. The Altroz Dark Edition XZ+ is available for Rs 8.71 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Altroz Dark Edition XZ+ iTurbo is available for Rs9.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
