Yamaha hasn’t revealed power and torque figures
The Zuma 125, also known as the BWs 125 in some markets, continues to use a liquid-cooled, 125cc, single-cylinder engine. However, this time around it gets Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation technology, meaning the valve timing changes at different rpms. While the company hasn’t revealed power and torque figures, it is said the engine has been tuned for “linear acceleration, strong torque at lower speeds and power that lasts into the top-end.”
For 2021, Yamaha has also made changes to help it meet Euro 5 (BS6) emission norms. Another big change comes in the form of the styling. The front-end looks more aggressive owing to a boxier design, a prominent front fender and an asymmetrical twin pod headlight set-up.
2021 Yamaha Zuma: other updates
The 12-inch wheels now feature aggressive block-pattern tyres. These tyres are quite wide at 120/70-12 in front and 130/70-12 in the rear. Yamaha has also said that the 2021 Zuma 125 features “tough suspension”, which makes sense given the off-road theme the company is going for. The update has also added linked brakes and a USB charging port to the Zuma.
The Yamaha Zuma 125 is expected to go on sale in the USA in the coming months at $3,699 (Rs 3.42 lakh). This off-road oriented scooter isn’t expected to make its way to India.
