MG Hector CVT engine details
The MG Hector CVT is powered by the same 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the Hector petrol-manual and DCT variants. The CVT gearbox is an 8-step unit that gets two drive modes – Eco and Sport. The new Hector CVT will sit alongside the manual and DCT versions, making it the first vehicle in India to offer two automatic gearbox options on the same engine.
The CVT-equipped Hector not only promises to be more fuel efficient than the DCT but, it’ll also likely be smoother than the dual-clutch setup.
2021 MG Hector: What’s new?
MG recently updated the Hector, giving it minor cosmetic changes and more features. On the outside, the 2021 Hector’s grille gets a revised finish and at the rear, the reflector strip spanning across the tailgate has been replaced by a black appliqué. The Hector now sits on larger 18-inch alloy wheels and it also gets new front and rear scuff plates.
Inside, MG has replaced the all-black theme with a dual-tone black and beige upholstery which uplifts cabin ambience. Feature additions on the 2021 Hector include ventilated seats, wireless phone charger and an auto-dimming IRVM.
MG has also updated the Hector’s voice assistant, which can now recognise up to 31 commands in Hinglish – some completely in Hindi – for actions ranging from the opening and closing of the sunroof to air-con controls and navigation.
MG Hector CVT rivals and more
The new Hector CVT will compete against other midsize SUVs with petrol-CVT powertrains like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks.
