2021 Jeep Compass facelift prices start at Rs 16.99 lakh

The Jeep Compass facelift has been launched in India, with prices starting from Rs 16.99 lakh and going up till Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai and Delhi). The SUV gets tweaked styling, anall-new interior, more features and can be had in four trim levels. For a limited period, a special 80th anniversary edition will also be available for Rs 22.96 lakh.

Jeep Compass facelift: exterior and interior changes

Changes to the Compass’ exterior are minimal. They include revised,slimmer headlights with integrated LED DRLs, an updated version of Jeep’s seven-slat front grille, a tweaked front bumper with a larger air dam, and new fog light housings and alloy wheels.

Inside, the Compass facelift gets a completely revamped dashboard, with a new floating10.1-inch touchscreen placed in the centre. Below the screen are the new, slim AC vents and HVAC controls. The facelift also gets double-stitched leather inserts on the dashboard, a new three-spoke steering wheel and a full, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Jeep Compass facelift: features and equipment

The top-spec Model S variant is equipped with a 10.1-touchscreen that gets FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system, integrated Amazon Alexa support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The infotainment system can also receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. The Compass facelift also features LED headlights, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, powered tailgate, 8-way electrically-adjustable front seats with ventilation, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Safety features on the Compass Model S trim include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, ESC, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and parking sensors.

Jeep Compass facelift: engine and powertrain options

The Jeep Compass facelift is powered by a 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, same as the outgoing model. Both engines come with six-speed manuals as standard, with the petrol getting the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and the diesel getting a nine-speed torque converter auto option. The Compass facelift diesel meanwhile, is available with a four-wheel drive system with surface-specific drive modes.

Jeep Compass facelift: competition check

The Jeep Compass facelift rivals the likes of the Tata HarrierMG Hector and Hyundai Tucson. Just like the pre-facelift model, the Compass facelift will also get the off-road focused Trailhawk variant at a later stage.

Jeep India line-up: What else is on the cards?

Jeep is developing a new seven-seat SUV that will share its platform and powertrain with the Compass, but will be positioned to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The seven-seat Jeep SUV is slated to launch sometime in 2022.

Apart from the seven-seater, Jeep has also announced plans to locally assemble the Wrangler and the next-gen Grand Cherokee. The manufacturer is also working on a sub-4m compact SUV for India.
