There are three variants of the S 1000 RR to choose from – Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport.
BMW has launched the 2023 iteration of the S 1000 RR in India, with prices starting at Rs 20.25 lakh for the Standard variant. The mid-spec Pro variant will set you back by Rs 22.15 lakh and the range-topping Pro M Sport commands Rs 24.45 lakh. This makes the 2023 model approximately Rs 50,000 more expensive than the outgoing model, variant-for-varaint.

2023 BMW S 1000 RR: what’s new?
With more and more flagship superbikes increasingly closing the gap to the 220hp mark, BMW has managed to squeeze 3hp more out of the S 1000 RR, taking its power output up to 210hp at a sky-high 13,750rpm. Torque stays the same, at 113Nm, and is made at 11,000rpm. This increase in peak power output has been made possible by changes like new intake geometry and revised intake funnels.
The chassis has undergone significant reworking and now allows more lateral flex. In layman’s terms, the 2023 S 1000 RR’s frame is now less stiff compared to the earlier model’s and theoretically, shouldn’t get unsettled that easily. Further increasing stability is the longer wheelbase, now standing at 1,458mm, a more relaxed 23.6-degree rake angle and a lengthened trail, at 99mm. The sum of all these changes should, theoretically, make the new model slightly slower when it comes to direction changes while improving stability.
The electronics package has also seen some updates, with much more track-focused riding aids. The bike now features Slide Control, allowing the rear tyre to step out of line before cutting power. The ABS has also been updated with a new Slick mode and a new Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), which ignores accidental inputs from the electronic throttle after detecting a certain level of deceleration.
However, the most noticeable change has happened on the outside, and the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR now features winglets for the first time. The winglets here are visually very similar to the race-replica BMW M 1000 RR, but provide 10kg of downforce as compared to the 16kg of downforce on the M 1000 RR. The tail section too has been revised for a sleeker look and now is more aerodynamic as well.
2023 BMW S 1000 RR: pricing and rivals
With a starting price of Rs 20.25 lakh, the 2023 S 1000 RR manages to undercut nearly all its litre-class rivals, except the 2023 Kawasaki ZX-10R, priced at Rs 15.99 lakh. Rivals from Italy include 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 range and Aprilia’s RSV4 1100 range and while they are more powerful than the Beemer, they’re also significantly more expensive.
Alongside the 2023 S 1000 RR, BMW has also launched two new cars in the form of the XM and the M340i in India.
