2022 Renault Kwid prices revealed; starts at Rs 4.49 lakh

New exterior paint shade options and a few cosmetic updates are seen on the 2022 Renault Kwid.

Renault has refreshed the Kwid line-up for 2022. The current Kwid was originally unveiled back in 2015 and was given a major facelift in 2019. Made in the Renault-Nissan alliance plant near Chennai, the Kwid is exported to multiple countries. The 2022 version of the Kwid has been given mild cosmetic updates, as the model continues to rival the likes of the Alto and the S-Presso in India.

2022 Renault Kwid: new RXL(O) variant introduced

While most of the line-up remains the same, Renault has added a new RXL (O) variant to the Kwid range that sits between the base-spec RXL and mid-spec RXT variants. Compared to the base RXL variant, the RXL (O) additionally gets new door decals, new wheel covers, grey fabric upholstery with contrasting white stitching and LED tail lights.

On the equipment front, the RXL(O) gets front power windows, rear parcel shelf, intermittent setting for the front wiper with auto wiping while washing, a single DIN stereo system with Bluetooth, USB and aux connectivity along with two front speakers. Offering a few more features than the base variant for a little premium, the new RXL(O) variant bridges the gap between RXL and RXT variants.

2022 Renault Kwid: Climber gets new colours

The Climber range has also been updated with two new dual-tone colour options – Metal Mustard and Ice Cool White with contrasting black roof. This is in addition to the existing Moonlight Silver and Zanskar Blue monotone colour options. The Climber Edition also gets new white accents around the touchscreen on the interior. It also gets new dual-tone flex wheels.

2022 Renault Kwid: features on offer

Part of the 2022 update also includes new safety features such as seat belt pyrotech and load limiter as standard. Other features on the Kwid include an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice commands, LED DRLs, electrically folding ORVMs, reverse parking camera and more. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, seat belt reminder, reverse parking sensors and driver side pyro and pre-tensioner with load Limiter.

2022 Renault Kwid: engine and gearbox options

The Kwid continues to be offered with the same three-cylinder petrol engines – a 54hp, 72Nm, 0.8-litre and a 68hp, 91Nm, 1.0-litre. The 800cc Kwid comes with a 5-speed manual only, while the 1.0-litre variant also gets an optional 5-speed AMT gearbox.

2022 Renault Kwid: rivals in India

The Renault Kwid continues its rivalry with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Alto and the Hyundai Santro in the entry-level hatchback segment.
