The Nissan GT-R first made its debut in 2007 and 14 years later, Nissan is still updating its flagship supercar to keep it relevant against more modern cars in its league. Earlier this week, Nissan revealed the updated 2022 GT-R with two new special edition models – the Premium Edition T-Spec and Track Edition.

2022 Nissan GT-R: what’s new?
The two new special edition models of the Nissan GT-R have been engineered to meet Nismo specifications and feature bespoke body panels, upgraded brakes and two special paint options. For starters, both the T-spec and Track Edition models have been updated with carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon fibre rear spoiler, limited badging and an exclusive engine cover.
The Premium Edition T-spec cars additionally get an exclusive interior with pearl suede accents, quilted Alcantara finish for the dashboard and semi-aniline leather-appointed seats. It also gets new Rays forged alloy wheels in bronze, an expanded wheel rim and lightened components beneath the suspension springs.
Track Edition models additionally feature a carbon fibre roof, bootlid and are based on the standard car with technology added by Nismo, the firm’s in-house tuning and performance arm.
They also gain Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade paint options, paying homage to older generation GT-Rs, where these colours have been used before. All Premium Edition T-spec and Track Edition models will go on sale in the second half of October, with production being limited to only 100 units.
2022 Nissan GT-R: powertrain details
Mechanically, the 2022 GT-R remains mostly unchanged. It continues to derive power from a 565hp, 633Nm, 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor. There’s also a higher-spec version that produces 591hp. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed DCT gearbox with paddle shifters and power is sent to all four wheels.
Nissan in India
Given that its a limited production model made only for Japan, the new GT-R will not make it to our shores. In India, Nissan has been fairly successful with its Magnite compact SUV and has greatly helped revive the brand in our country. However, there are no new launches from Nissan in the near future.
