The Star City+ was updated to BS6-spec back in January 2020. At the time, it was only available with drum brakes and was priced at Rs 62,034. The price for that model has now gone up to Rs 65,865. The recently launched disc brake-equipped variant, meanwhile, costs Rs 68,465 (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The disc is a petal type unit, similar to the one we’ve seen on the company’s Apache models. Other than that, the Star City+ remains unchanged from the more affordable variant. What this means is that it continues to feature the LED headlight that made its debut on the model last year.
The 109.7cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine is fuel-injected and produces 8.08hp at 7,350rpm, which is about 0.32hp lower than the BS4 engine’s output. The torque figure, at 8.7Nm, remains the same. However, it’s now produced at 4,500rpm instead of 5,000rpm.
The company also says that the BS6 engine is smoother and more durable than before and that it offers better fuel economy; the brand claims a 15 percent increase over the BS4 machine. That’s interesting, considering that the BS6 Star City+ tips the scales at 116kg (kerb), which is about 7kg more than the outgoing BS4 motorcycle.
The disc brake-equipped TVS Star City+ is only available in one colour scheme – a red and black dual-tone option. The drum brake-equipped variant, meanwhile, can be had in five different colours.
