2021 Kawasaki Z900 SE unveiled

Kawasaki has revealed the Z900 SE with higher-spec components. The Z900 is among Kawasaki’s most popular offerings in the UK and it has now undergone the SE treatment.

  • Costs around Rs 1.5 lakh (£1500) more in UK

  • Gets an Öhlins S46 monoshock

  • Brakes upgraded to Brembo M4.32

Like with most SEs, the Z900 also has received higher-spec components. The bike is now equipped with a 41mm USD fork that features compression, rebound and stepless preload adjustment.

Suspension at the rear is handled by an Öhlins S46 monoshock with a remote preload adjuster. This is most certainly the same unit we saw on the Z900RS SE that recently made its debut. Like the aforementioned retro styled motorcycle, the Z900 SE also uses radially mounted Brembo M4.32 brakes and steel braided lines. The brake discs, meanwhile, remain the same at 300mm.

Everything else is retained from the BS6-compliant Z900 that was launched in September 2020 at Rs 7.99 lakh. Since then, the price for the standard Z900 has risen to Rs 8.42 lakh in India. If the Z900 SE does make it to India, one can expect a similar premium (Rs 1.5 lakh or £1500) to that seen in the United Kingdom.

To recap, last year’s update brought big changes including the introduction of electronic riding aids such as a three-level Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and two power modes – Low and Full. In addition, the new Z900 also gets four riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider, which can be adjusted via the TFT instrument panel interface introduced last year.
